Attorney Profiles

Michael A. Cederstrom was born and raised in Southern California. He attended Brigham Young University where he pursued a degree in accounting and participated on the water polo and swimming teams.  In 1972 Mr. Cederstrom postponed his university studies to serve a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New Zealand.

Upon Mr. Cederstrom's return from his mission he transferred to the University of Utah where he graduated with honors with a degree in finance.  Mr. Cederstrom continued his studies at the University of Utah towards a master's degree in business administration.  Prior to completing the MBA degree he transferred to Southwestern University and graduated with honors, obtaining a Juris Doctor degree.  While at Southwestern University he earned two Jurisprudence Awards for exceptional achievement in the study of Tax and Estate Planning.

Upon graduation from Southwestern University Mr. Cederstrom practiced with a nationally known law firm in Los Angeles, California.  After approximately one year with the firm Mr. Cederstrom joined a business law firm where he became a partner after only two years.  He practiced there for 13 years.  During that time Mr. Cederstrom participated in the organization of a Bank and registration of the Bank's shares on the New York Stock Exchange.  He served on the Board of Directors of two banks and several other businesses.

In 1993 Mr. Cederstrom merged two corporations in a reverse merger with the surviving corporation obtaining a listing on the NASDAQ exchange.  After the merger he served as General Counsel for the corporation until 1997.  In 1997 Mr. Cederstrom organized and registered the shares of the Corporation on the Alberta Stock Exchange, eventually moving the company to the Canadian Venture Exchange.  Mr. Cederstrom served as the General Counsel and CFO of the Canadian Corporation until 2002.

In January 2004 Mr. Cederstrom joined Dexter & Dexter and relocated to Springville, Utah.  Mr. Cederstrom's practice specializes in Business Law, including initial organization of business entities, maintenance of the entity, employment issues and business tax issues.  Mr. Cederstrom also practices in the areas of estate planning, probate and tax issues, banking law and elder law.
