David J. Hunter

While born and raised in southern California, David J. Hunter has been a resident of Utah Valley for over twenty years.  Dave spent two years as a volunteer missionary in Honduras and, like many of the Dexter & Dexter attorneys, speaks Spanish fluently. David makes his home in the area with his wife and their five children.

David graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from the Marriott School of Management.  After completing his undergraduate studies, he spent six years in the business field, before returning to Brigham Young University to obtain a law degree.  During law school, he was recognized as Top Oralist and honored as a member of the prestigious Law Review Society.  He spent his summers during law school interning as a Clerk in the Fourth District Court of Utah in Provo, gaining valuable insights into the inner-workings of the Utah court system.

Mr. Hunter’s practice is primarily focused on family law and estate planning.  He has handled hundreds of divorce, custody, paternity, adoption and other family law related cases.  He assists with father’s rights cases both as petitioner and respondent.  He can offer an affordable solution for step-parent and third-party adoptions.  He also offers mediation and arbitration services in these same areas.  He is admitted to practice before all Utah state courts including the Utah Supreme Court and the Federal District Court for the District of Utah.
